From our knowledge of the world, is that it is hard to achieve great things, they don’t just come on a silver platter, we have to sweat and work hard for it. Well, same case to heaven, the city with pure gold, with the river of life flowing through it, no more death and no more suffering; do you think it would be easy to achieve it? Of course not, the Bible says whoever chooses to live as Christ must face
persecution (2 Timothy 3:12).
Jesus Himself said that whoever wants to be my disciple must carry their crosses every day and follow me (Luke 9:23). Of course, He was not talking of a physical cross, but the cross of persecution. But where do we find our hope? Jesus said the world will bring you trouble but be of good courage because I have defeated the world (John 16:33).
The road to life is tough because we tend to concentrate more on achieving the things of this life but forget to work hard to stay in the only race which we were all called to run. God says days without number have gone without me hearing from you (Jeremiah 2:32). That statement shows how easy it is to forget the most important thing, our relationship with God.
Physical obedience means giving up the desirable part of this world and focusing on God. The whole human race has something within them which constantly calls for them to act contrary to the word of God; it is the flesh. When Jesus found the three disciples asleep after He finished praying, He told them to keep watch and pray that they may not fall into temptation for the spirit is willing but the flesh is
weak (Mathew 26:41).
It is logical that when you tell your spouse that you love him/her on the inside and do not show it on the outside they are going to question you. Likewise, God requires of His people physical obedience. (1 John 2:15).
whoever loves the world or anything in it does not love the Father. Hate the world because it will only lead us to destruction. Daniel said” I ate no pleasant food”, he only ate vegetables and water while he had access to good food and wine. The response to this is that he became healthier than all the young men who ate food the royal food (Daniel 1:15). When an angel was sent to him, he told him he was God’s beloved (Daniel 10:11). He forsook pleasant food and became pleasant to God.
There is nothing in this world that is of more worth than pleasing God, our names have surely been written in the Book of Life as He promised.
