God gave us a single purpose in this world, to worship Him, have reverence for Him and love Him. Doing this constantly by the help of the Holy Spirit, we defeat the world. When we defeat the world, we defeat the devil, we maintain our original form of righteousness that Jesus Christ died and obtained for us; before God and thus, get to live with Him in the end where He lives.
Defeating the world can only happen when one loves God. Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart, soul and mind (Mathew 22:37). If we love God this much, sin cannot be found in us. Think of all the commandments and substitute love in them. Take for example, worship no other God but me, if you really obeyed Mathew 22:37, then this would not be a problem to you. The bible says that we should not love the world or anything that belongs to the world; if we love the world, we
do not love the Father (1 John 2:15). Hating the world is really simple, because if you love God genuinely, God’s love baptizes you and automatically you hate sin because you will have received the very nature of God that was given to us in the beginning.
What if we do this but still sin at one time or another? Well, if anyone says he has no sin he deceives God and truth is not in him (John 1:8). Moreover, (Jeremiah 17:9) says the heart is deceitful above all things, who can know it? God knows that each of us has the flesh which constantly tempts us to do that which is contrary to the word of God. But the minute we believe that our sins are forgiven and we are therefore righteous then sin is washed away gradually from our lives by the renewal of our minds. Therefore, sin should not stop us from believing that we are righteous but we should repent of that sin and pray not to commit that sin anymore.
When Jesus went to pray in the mountain, He came back and found His disciples asleep. He told them to keep watch and pray that they will not fall into temptation, He said the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak (Mathew 26:41). In conclusion, we should never be disturbed that we cannot be perfect before the eyes of God. The bible says that when Jesus died and rose again, He presented us before God as holy and blameless (Colossians 1:22). So, if we constantly convince our minds that we are not sinners, sin will gradually eliminate itself from our lives.
