Why should we have a childlike faith? Because God is able to do great and mighty things that we know not nor have never seen. As high as the heaven is above the earth, so are His ways and thoughts above ours (Isaiah 55:9).
Look at this interesting story; when the Egyptians were pursuing the Israelites up to when they had reached the red sea, there was clearly no way they could escape, but God had already seen a way. Moses told them to be still and watch God save them (Exodus 14:13). God separated the red sea and they walked on dry ground.
Elijah asked for fire from heaven despite his firewood being filled with water (1 kings 18:16-45).
Daniel was thrown in a den of hungry lions but came out untouched (Daniel 6). There are many situations where God showed His power to the people who had faith in Him, the least He requires of us is to doubt Him even a single bit.
What about when we constantly have faith in Him but nothing happens? Things are going the wrong way and situations are not changing? the answer is holding on just a little while longer, having a stubborn faith. Believe that God is closing these doors only to open new ones. Remember God’s words never return to His mouth void. He said He will never live us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).
In such situations, God wants to develop our faith to another level, He has greater plans ahead but at some stage He requires another level of faith. So, God sends such situations to test us, He sent hardships to test the Israelites so that He might know what they wanted to do and whether they would obey His commands (Deuteronomy 8:2). Abraham was told to sacrifice His only son who was to give him many descendants. Israelites were supposed to reach the promised land flowing with milk and honey, Abraham was to have as many descendants as the stars in the sky but to reach there they had to have some certain level of faith.
God’s love for us is beyond human comprehension, He will fulfill that which He has promised. Everyone is supposed to reach the other side where there is total calm, the place of rest, but we will have to hold on just a little while longer and have unconditional faith. He is transforming us to be the best fighters in the spiritual warfare, for we fight not against flesh and blood but against principalities and demonic forces (Ephesians 6:5).
Unconditional faith is the level where bad situations don’t change our motive for God, for no one can abandon a Father that he loves so much; we still kneel down and thank Him for what He has already done. We have to understand that every tear we shed because of Him makes His love richer and purer in us. Job was one of the wealthiest people in his time, God allowed the devil bring him disaster but not to harm him; he killed all his children and animals and as if that was not enough, gave him a dreaded skin disease. All this, to test whether job was truly faithful to God or it was because of the material possessions that God gave him.
In the end, even after Job’s wife and friends thought that Job should finally understand that God didn’t love him anymore, Job still held on to God. God blessed him twice as much as he had before.
Remember, gold must be passed through fire to become pure, faith is of great value in God’s sight. Let us
be completely faithful to the Lord (Deuteronomy 18:13)
